Burger King Goes Healthy
Are you or your children fast food fans? If you are you will be happy to hear this: Burger King has vowed to offer healthier fast-food items for children under 12. they plan to sell and market flame-broiled Chicken Tenders and apples cut to resemble thick-cut french fries. They plan to have these new menu option out in 2008.
I think the problem is not with the menu at any fast food chain, although I think they are usually terrible. You can make a sensible choice like a salad and a water at any fast food place these days. I think a parent has to make healthy choices for themselves as well as their children to make a difference in this overly obese country. Maybe not stopping at the fast food chain at all is the first step.

Anything in moderation won’t make you fat. It’s the people who eat at McDonalds, etc., 2-3 times per week with their kids - and it is also a cheap meal for them.

Ah, fast food. At least we now have D’Angelos, Subway, even Taco Bell, etc. where the food is still fast, pretty fresh, decently made (and to order), and frankly less expensive than Burger King and McDonald’s.
But it’s still the marketing gurus who keep young kids and teenagers (and husbands, when alone!) in the loop.
Great topic for discussion.

I think that everything in moderation. My kids (thank goodness, I hope this will not change) do not like McDonalds or Wendys. They don’t like fries or burgers.
They LOVE the fruit cup at Chick fil a (which is my favorite fast food) and will tolerate the nuggets there.

Recently a new study came out that lists obesity in children by state. A few weeks ago I wrote about how to give our kids tools so that they make the right choices.

Moderation is important, so is knowledge of what a serving size is along with excercise. Fast food is easy and good. We have to look beyond what the restaurants are offering and turn the finger to ourselves to ask how we can make a difference as well.

I also wanted to share information I wrote about the powers truggles we have sometimes with food. It presents solutions.
