Breaking Up With My Pediatrician

As I walked into the pediatrician’s office yesterday morning, I didn’t know I was going to have to walk right back out 15 minutes later without my son’s three month exam being completed. I liked my pediatrician, he is a nice man with a quiet voice. I trusted him until yesterday. I didn’t think it would come to this. I didn’t think I would feel so hurt.
I broke up with my pediatrician.

We have had other pediatricians before, we had the one that was in our hometown that was too far to drive to and we had the one that was more like a business then a pediatrician’s office. This one was different, more personal.
Although I do vaccinate my children I do delay some vaccinations and I only give one at a time. Yesterday my pediatrician wanted to give my twelve week old baby two vaccines. I explained I only give one at at time, like I do with my older kids. He said he wouldn’t break from the “standard of care”. He told me he did not want to get sued and I understand. I told him that I couldn’t give my tiny baby that many vaccinations, and he understood.
Then, I started to cry.

I do believe that vaccinations are good for the population. I would never want my children to get sick with a horrible disease. What I know is that the vaccinations we have in this country are not safe. They are filled with preservatives like formaldehyde, aluminum and mercury. They are cheap preservatives that the drug companies use because that way they can make more of a profit. This country RUNS on drug company money. There are inter-office memos from the 1970s from Merck stating that they know that mercury is dangerous to use in vaccines. If the government thinks vaccines are so safe then why do they maintain a National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) and between 1990-2004, the VICP paid more than $900 million in restitution to persons injured by vaccines?

I want to vaccinate my children on my schedule, I don’t want the state to tell me how many to give by a certain age. I don’t want them to have more then one vaccination at once. Say I did vaccinate my baby with 2 or more vaccines yesterday, if he had a reaction like a fever, swelling or seizures, how would we know which one he is reacting to? Is that responsible?

I had to say goodbye to a doctor who I thought was different. Now my journey begins to find a new doctor who will listen to my concerns without lecturing me. One who will allow me to do what I think is best for MY child. I know it is possible and it will be the best fit for me and my children.

Tell me how you feel about your pediatrician, do you like him/her? Do you ever respectably disagree with their advice or patient care?
I will even like to hear about what you think of vaccinations, but only if you play nicely.

I agree you have the right to vaccinate when and how you feel is fit, especially since you have done your homework and are not making up a schedule based on lack of information. I still have not had one of the vaccines given to my four year old and had to have the doctor write a letter to our school saying we are all aware this vaccine has not been done. Other than that, we have had not issues with vaccinating on our own schedule. Good luck with your new doc. I would do the same thing you are!

how is that that “you know that vaccinations in the country are not safe”? you may believe that, but you certainly do not know it, since there is no data to support that. it’s very hypocritical to say that vaccinations are “good for the population”, but not to vaccinate your own child properly. you are both mooching off herd immunity, and increasing the risk that other children, even those who have been immunized, will get sick. good luck to you!

I never said that I do not vaccinate my children, I vaccinate them but I do not use this AAP’s schedule. My children are vaccinated entirely by the time they enter school.

If vaccinations are so safe then why since we have 3x the amount we had 30 years ago is their MUCH higher instances of ADD ADHD, autism, asthma, cancer etc? Take a look at the states and you will see how hand in hand the drug companies and your state reps are.

I was stating my opinion on my site, we can have an adult conversation about it but attacking me is not necessary.
