BPAwhat?
If you are a parent then by now I am sure you heard of the dangers of plastics in baby bottles, sippy cups and everything else. What parents don’t want their children exposed to is bisphenol-A, a plastic softener used in the production of polycarbonate plastic very commonly used in baby bottles and cups. I am also trying to purge my drawers of plastic food containers and replace them with glass ones since I am not aware of any bisphenol-A free ones yet.
You can find out why this chemical is so terrible for you, or your unborn baby or your children here.
But what can we do about it? If you are anything like me, these recent toy recalls, food recalls and information about what was in our baby bottles that my children used for years can make my head spin. I can’t keep up. Is anything safe for our kids anymore? I have complied a list of bisphenol-A free baby bottles and cups for you and maybe it will make you sleep a little bit better.
Medela bottles
Born Free
Adiri Nursers and
Weego bottles.
Sippy cups that are safe are also by Born Free, Sigg, and Kleen Kanteen.
Of course like anything that is better for you or safer, you are going to pay for it. All of these bottles and cups are more expensive then regular bottles or sippy cups.
So are you supposed to by all new bottles and cups and throw away all your Dr. Browns, Avent, Playtex. Munchkin and Playskool bottles and cups? I know I am and that is a big shame, on the companies that make these bottles without letting us know what is in them like ingredients on any food you purchase.
Are you buying these BPA free items? Which are your favorites and how do you determine what is “safe” for your children these days?

A friend turned me on recently to your blog and I saw this article about BPA. I just wanted to let you know that you missed a great company called Green to Grow on your list of BPA-free bottles. Their website is http://www.greentogrow.com. I recently bought a few bottles for my daughter and she loves them. We’re really pleased with quality and they’re also really cute. Check them out.
